My Game Plan Layout (Circle Blog Weekly Challenge #27)

Click here for my Followers Giveaway

I love using other people's sketches to inspire my scrap layouts and cards and I am becoming more adventurous in my layouts because of that. I have also started drawing my own mini-sketches when I am away from home and thinking about what I want to do. This week the challenge at the Cricut Circle Blog is to create your own "game plan" or sketch for your project.

I found two photos of my husband's family in front of their old home right before his parents moved out last Spring and an idea came into my head to make the pictures the base of a house. I was not sure how to proceed and than I remembered the challenge. I drew the house and than created the rest of my sketch around that house by thinking about what I would like it to look like in the end. The sketch is much more detailed (meaning very specific shapes versus boxes and circles to represent things) than I would normally draw or use, but it set me in the right direction for my layout.
As you can see I moved things a little bit, left off the second roof, moved the numbers on to the house instead of on the path and gave the whole page a border, but overall I think it looks a lot like I pictured it would in my drawing.

I used Gypsy Font (Sweet) and Lacy Labels (HOME) for the title at the top. The numbers on the house are from Cursive 101, the roof is a triangle from George and Basic Shapes that I stretched out on my Gypsy and the bushes are from Live Simply. I embossed the roof and the path with polka dots (my favorite) and used sand paper on the bushes. When I got to the end I had no border on the page and felt it was missing something so I used a corner punch by EK Success that allows you to create the basic frame on the corners. This punch is awesome but not always easy to get the measurements right on so I got lucky that it fit. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  8. Wow, your entry is fantastic! Thanks for the sweet comments on my blog! I really need to get a sketch out so I can enter the challenge as well. I guess they don't want the sketch I make on my G as I create my LO?! Oh well, I guess I can transfer it to paper.
