Birthday Bucket

I have been working with vinyl a little bit more and have found that I love using the Cricut adhesive backed printable stuff a lot. I find myself walking through the store thinking about what I could put it on. It layers very nicely, so if you want to cut out fun layered pieces in different colors you can do on using your Imagine machine.

On a recent trip to Walmart (waiting patiently for the new Lites to come in!) I  found those large 18 gallon tubs with the string handles for $6 each. They have them in blue, red, yellow and green. I got the twitch when I walked by and knew they would be wonderful with vinyl on them. I needed a birthday present for a soon to be 3-year-old and thought of all the toys the family has in their home. I made a quick call to the family to make sure it would have a place for it and to find out what the birthday boy is in to these days and bought that bucket!

Once  I got it home I started planning a racing themed bucket for my gift. I printed and cut all the vinyl using my Imagine machine and it goes on so nice. I used:
- Plantin Schoolbook for all the lettering: Roly Poly & italics
- Everyday Paper dolls for the cars and flags.
- The base Imagine Images for the circles and all the fill in colors.

I wanted two of the flags  to be checkered flags so I hand colored them. I tried a few tests with different markers and ended up using Permapaque markers. They did not smear to the touch quickly.
I can not wait to give this bucket to the birthday boy.  A totally awesome, hand-made gift for about $10 dollars (the adhesive vinyl was $10 for 5 sheets and I used 2 pieces). I have a feeling I will be heading back to Walmart to get some more of these buckets as other gifts!! Enjoy and as always comments are welcomed! Here is my final product! Very  pleased.
I also wanted to mention that this is being posted to a fun link-up party. Made It Myself Mondays. The button to get to this great site will always be sitting on the side of my posts!!

  6. Great job! I love the design and color combination - which is not so easy to do when you first start working with vinyl. If you're interested, I can direct you to a few places where you can get a lot of vinyl for a fraction of the price that you pay for Cricut brand vinyl (one of them is PC's supplier). - Have a great day! - Sabrina
