Operation Write Home - A Little Bird Told Me...

I have seen so many great cards being made for Operation Write Home on different blogs and I really wanted to start making a stack of cards to send them. The basic idea behind Operation Write Home is sending homemade cards to our soldiers overseas so they have a selection to use in their letters home. All the guidelines for this great effort are found at the link above.

They make it so easy to help out. I went to the list of card needs and decided to start with birthday cards because I found this fun stamp this morning at Hobby Lobby and knew it would make fun cards.
Inkadinkado Stamp
I pulled out my 3 Birds on Parade cartridge and started cutting. I made 4 of the same bird holding a cupcake and all the required layers as well. They were cut at 3.24 height.  Then I got to gluing...all those tiny layers. I used my Scotch Scrapbooker's Glue with the 2-way applicator because it is strong and I knew the pieces would stick.

As a note: when I glue small piece onto a large shapes I find it easier to put the glue on the base and than put the small shapes on so I do not get glue all over the small pieces when trying to glue them.

Once I had my birds all put together I used a Le Plume II marker to ink my stamp and stamp it onto a white layer for my card.
All that was left was putting the cards together. They request that you do not make too many of the same card so I just made 4. I punched out some stars with a Creative Memories punch and embossed them with some polka dots. You can not use loose glitter, but Stickles are 100% allowed so I added just a touch to the top of each cupcake.
I want to thank you for stopping by and hope you will consider checking out Operation Write Home (link above).

That's what i did...Mine cost 125.00 but you can customize items for your budget..www.justwordz.ca
