So..What's New Day 2: Masterpiece

Welcome to day 2 of the
So...What's New Blog Hop.
I hope you joined us yesterday for part 1 and are back today to see what else these newer bloggers have to offer. I for one have started following all of them and hope you will as well. You should have arrived today from Laura at Confessions of a Scrapaholic. If you are joining in the middle of the hop please go visit Roberta at TX Scrapper Mom to start from the beginning and see everyone's wonderful work today. For a chance at some blog candy see the bottom of my post.

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout with you. Scrapbooking is how this whole blog got started for me and while I seem to be creating many other fun projects lately, I still love making layouts that will last in my family albums a long time. This 2-page layout is all about the art class my daughter took last winter. I took photos each week as I came up with the basic idea for the art gallery layout right away (only took me 9 months to put it together). I started with Fancy Frames and selected 4 different frames to cut out in gold card stock. If you look at the inside of the frame on your gypsy you can get a good idea for the picture measurement.  I cut the titles using my Gypsy to weld Gypsy Font together.

After laying out the whole project I pasted the photos down first and than put the frames on over them. I was going for a gallery look so I found a simple sheer bronze ribbon in my stash and folded it to create a hanger for each frame. I taped these down with thermo-o-web supertape.  When all was said and done I felt that layout looked a little plain and needed something extra. I came up with the following 3 things:
1. Stamped gold ink around the outside edge of the pages
2. I sprayed the black paper with Sheer Shimmer Spritz.
3. I cut our some gold squares from Gypsy Font for the corners.
In the end I was really happy with this layout and is far surpassed my original design idea. I hope you are enjoying the hop. Here are close ups of each page:
I am giving away some simple Halloween inspired blog candy and while I would love for you to follow me all you have to do is leave a comment and you are entered in the drawing to win! This is open to US entries only unless you want to pay the shipping fees.
