Birthday Celebration

Today I get to share one of the wonderful projects I was working on this weekend and was only able to give a sneak peak of until today.
The sneak peak!
My student teacher is celebrating her 22nd birthday today! I have grown very fond of her, like I'm her big sister, and I wanted to make it a big deal for her and of course any excuse for cupcakes is a plus!!

A banner was must for this celebration. Her favorite color is orange so I started by finding just the right papers. Both the patterned papers are (loose sheets) from My Mind's Eye: Polka Dot Orange from the Pretty Please Collection and the fun plaid is called, Check Him Out from the Just Dreamy Collection.

To start off, I selected a banner cut from Birthday Bash and cut it in two sizes (3.72W x 5.12H & 4.40W x 6.06H) before I layered them. Next a circle, cut using the Creative Memories Circle Cutter, for each was added. For the letters I used my Base Camp cartridge for the first time (YEAH!!) and cut out each letter and layer before popping them up using Scotch Pop-up Foam squares.

The final touch for the banner was these sweet little flowers placed on with orange brads (thank you We R Memory Keepers brad setter!) I had so much fun making this banner and then decided...matching card needed:
I folded a large poster board in half for this card. Next, I cut the "happy birthday" from Simply Charmed and the cupcakes from Cricut American Alphabet. They so needed orange Stickles on the embossed frosting! (Tim Holtz swirls folder) I used a left over banner piece and added the 22 using the Pooh Font Set. Inside

I got really sneaky and had all her students (4 different classes) sign it for the big reveal today! I have a feeling she will be overjoyed! I hope you enjoyed as well. Here is one final shot of the banner on my closet door at school.

This post is extra special as I am posting this project as my entry for the new Jinger Adams Design Team. Jinger, with the help of the Scrapbooking Queen, will select a team to help showcase her new product line (which I for one cannot wait to see and stock up on!) I wanted to have a special project for this design team call and I wanted to showcase what I love about crafting: making things for others to enjoy! So Enjoy!

  7. I really need to do one of those banners for my craft room. Maybe a combination of that and one of the photo wires I saw on Sarah Hamer's blog.
