Happy Birthday Box

Yesterday I was exploring blog world and came across the Cameo Creations Birthday Blog Hop starting at Monica's Creative Madness. This is a hop devoted to birthday projects made with a Cameo. This hop was so great and they have a challenge with the hop to create a birthday project using your Cameo so I figured I would explore and play and learn while making something fun.
I have had this Artisan Ribbon Box by Alla Studio in my wish list ever since I first started exploring the world of Silhouette and decided I would buy it (thanks Mom for my birthday gift to the Silhouette Store). I learned pretty quick how to re-size and separate objects to cut them with different papers. The perforated edges made folding & taping easy. Adding the ribbon was also simple.
Next, I wanted to add a birthday touch so I went looking for a simple birthday cut and found these birthday cutout tags also by Alaa Studio, but they come with numbers in them. I did not want a number so I decided to play around with welding, hoping it worked in similar ways to my Gypsy and YEAH...it did. Here is how I did it:
Original Tags by Alla Studio in Silhouette Store
1. I made an oval over the number in the design and welded the 2 shapes. (making the number disappear and part of the circle.
2. I still wanted the inner circle the design had so I added a circle inside to fit.
3. Once you have the design you want using 2 shapes you click MAKE in the modify menu and the items become one image.
4. Save your new design  (I saved mine right in my library).

This challenge was a learning experiment for me and now I have a simple birthday box. When I know who it will be going to I plan on cutting out the name and gluing it on top of the circle. It is fun learning this new software and machine! Thanks for stopping by today.

Paper: DCWV Citrus Stack & Citrus Cardstock

  5. Great box. I believe the best way to learn something is to jump right in and make something. That's how I learned to use my Gypsy - by making a box.
