All 50 States -or- Bust

My major holiday project for the year is a gift for my parents. In 2013 they will be traveling to the East Coast on a summer vacation with my daughter.  When they visit Delaware, the first state that entered the Union, they will be visiting the last of all 50 States. Together my parents will have traveled in, around and through all 50 States. In honor of this trip and exciting feat, I am creating an album to collect some of the many memories they have experienced together.
The album will have single or double layouts for all 50 States and our nation's Capital. It will also include the cover page above.

For this cover page I cut out the United States outline from the Stand and Salute cartridge. It is about 7 inches wide so in order to emboss it with the stars pattern I had to run it though my Cuttlebug twice. The center got a little squished, but my lettering helped cover that up.

I added two travel icons from the Going Places cartridge and got to work on my lettering. I selected the large numbers off my Varsity Letter cart and then headed to my Cameo to cut out the rest. I used two fonts for the remaining letters: Pacifico and Palatino Linotype Bold.
I am working hard on the state pages which will all have a similar look and feel, but different colors and fonts (due to my obsession). I hope to share those with you soon and will present the gift to my parents on Christmas. Thanks so much for visiting today. I hope you are having an enjoyable week.
