Birthday Block Card

My Mom loves when I make cards for her so when her birthday came around this January, I wanted something soft and pretty. Here is what I came up with.
I have been seeing tons of cards that use different patterned blocks as a base and I loved the idea for my Mom's card. All these papers are from My Mind's Eye, Laundry Line stack. I cut and measured to create my backdrop on a layer of soft brown before adding it to the base.
Next, I added a simple bow and a "Happy Birthday" cut out form Gypsy Wanderings. The little pearl works well (especially when I always seem to loose the dot to i.
In the inside I added an embossed layer to the top and a simple row of 3 blocks so I would have enough room for a note. I also added this fun stamp of the Pink By Design Illuminate set.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week and getting some time to enjoy a little crafting. This weekend means finishing Valentine treats, which I will share soon. Have a great day.

  1. I love the pattern blocks too. I have seen them called the 1 inch block technique. Great way to use scraps too.

  3. Yes, I agree too! Such a soft and pretty card. Not sure how big your card is, but I've made 3x3 size cards using the 1" square blocks. They make great little note cards.

  5. Cute card! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I just wanted to let you know that I use my Silhouette Cameo to cut the vinyl for the plates. The files for them are from the Sil store. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message.
