Get Caught In A Good Book

I am a teacher by day (lucky for me I am on Spring Break right now!) and often I get to create fun things to hang up at school using my craft room tools. My favorite thing to make for school is displays for the wall in our main entryway (Affectionately knows as "My Wall"). This year we have a huge reading push including a new Reading program our entire district is using K-8.  It has been going well and my principal wanted a wall to keep encouraging reading.
I went to my coworkers and got them to take pictures of themselves and their families reading. I wanted us to all show that we read at home as well. I placed all the photos inside the pages of some giant open books.
Once everyone had be placed onto the pages I created the title for my wall - It was too simple, but took me forever to figure out...
I used a basic paper cutter and cut various sizes of "books" Simple right?  I used some scrap paper to make a backing to stick them onto and than created a long black "book shelf" to cover the bottom. All that was needed was a title. Thanks to my Silhouette I had that done in a few minutes and was adding the words on. It got hung up about a week before the break and students are often asking/guessing whose kids are whose.I even had one kid ask if I wold take their picture reading and hang it on the wall - DONE!!!

Supplies:
- My Community Cricut Cartridge- books
- Bernard Condensed Font - cut on Silhouette Cameo

  3. LB, You really have outdone yourself on this display. The book shelf title is very clever. You know I am going to have to steal the idea. :) Quilt frog

  4. I love this! This is awesome! I definitely love all the colors you have chosen for your books too- so many bright cheery colors and their not the typical school book colors either. Very nicely done!
