Back to School with Bitten By the Bug 2

Happy Monday everyone! It is time for a new challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2. This week our host, Emily, has asked us to create Back to School projects featuring school supply images. When looking at my daughter's back to school photos from last year the backpack really stuck out to me so I went with it for my project this week.
This is the same backpack she used in Kindergarten and she decided to use it again this year. I went looking for the perfect backpack image for my layout and found the fun notebook pages on the Printing 101 cartridge.
Once I had the base of the layout the way I wanted it I needed a title. I found the one on wanted on the Designers Calendar cartridge, but needed to make it work on both a light and dark background. with some creative trimming I made it work.
A few added embellishments and a journaling box finished off the layout.
Hope you like it. Thanks for joining me this happy Monday. I hope you will take time to check out the other Back to School projects created by the wonderful BBTB2 design team and maybe join in the fun. Make it a great week.

Feeling Groovy Love

Happy day to all. Hope you are feeling groovy this Tuesday. This week for the challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas we are celebrating decades. I decided to go with the 60's groovy times vibe.
I found this fun love cut out and thought it would make a fun shape card. It went together great with a little copy/paste action and mirroring the design before welding it.
Once I had the design ready I went looking for the right colors. I have so much paper so this can take awhile, but I found some great bright colors to work with.
I got it all placed out and cut quickly. It turned out fun especially with the added embossing touches.
I hope you can join us this week at Die Cuttin' Divas- pick a decade and create a fun project showing it off. Make sure to label your decade and tell what die cuts you used. Have a great week.

Supplies:
- Feeling Groovy Cricut cartridge - love cuts
- Cuttlebug Polka dots embossing folder.

Celebrate Friendship

Friends are important so this week at Bitten By the Bug 2, we are celebrating friendship as our challenge.  I have a bunch of friends I do not get to see very often so this sentiment stuck out to me and I build my card around it.
This simple card (which was very hard to photograph due to my silver paper) was created with the Paper Trimmings cartridge. I cut the star frame and additional stars to layer on top.
I love how it turned out and was able to send it to a friend I needed to send a thank you. I hope you can join us this week at BBTB2 for our celebrate friendship challenge.

Supplies:
- Paper Trimmings Cricut Cartridge - star circle, moon and stars (with moon contoured out)
- Pink By Design Stamp of the Month set Feb. 2013

Let's Celebrate with Die Cuttin' Divas

It is time to celebrate with Die Cuttin' Divas. This week we want to see your projects celebrating anything. For my project I created a special birthday bag.
I started with a store bought gift bag in the size I needed and added my designs on top.
I selected my images - how can you not love this fun rhino - and planned everything out on my computer before cutting. Everything cut well and the layers went together well. This rhino head was pretty top heavy with all his layers but on the bag he was not a problem.
I added a little sparkle in a few places to finish off the look of the bag. The birthday boy was super happy with it (yes he noticed before getting to the gift!!).
I hope you are celebrating something this week as well.  Hope you can join in with Die Cuttin' Divas Let's Celebrate Challenge. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

Supplies:
- Animal Antics Cricut Cartridge - rhino with balloons
- Birthday Cakes Cricut Cartridge - all lettering (Happy Birthday is pre-made cut)
- Stickles in Firefly and Lagoon

Berry Sweet

It is a berry sweet day. Our host at Bitten By the Bug 2, Brenda, has asked us to showcase those wonderful summer fruits we all love to enjoy on the hot days of the season. I went with strawberries because they happen to be my daughter's favorite.
The whole thing really got started with this fun rainbow of ribbons I had in my collection. I loved the colors and thought they would work  great so I placed them onto a card base. I set them aside waiting for the right inspiration.
Strawberries work perfect with these fun colors.  I added cute Peachy Keen faces and some white seeds to make them even more fun.
Sitting a top a embossed base and a simple sentiment - that matched pretty perfectly were the finishing touches.

Thanks for visiting with me today. I hope you get a chance to play along with us at BBTB2 this week - show us your fun summer fruits. Remember this is a Cricut based challenge so some Cricut cut needs to be used.

- Preserves Cricut Cartridge - strawberries
- Alphalicious Cricut Cartridge - scalloped circle tag
- Amy Tangerine ribbon collection

Sail Away with Die Cuttin' Divas

It is time to sail away with a new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. This week we want to see your nautical themed projects - sailboats, anchors and more.
I got this adorable sailboat from Miss Kate Cuttables and have been waiting to use it. I also found the perfect paper I think...
Cutting out images from Miss Kate Cuttables is super easy - once you separate the image (I used Silhouette Studio for this) you can place the layers all over your mat and cut all the colors at one time.
Putting everything together is a breeze (ha sailing pun!).  I found a simple stamp to pull it all together and it was ready to go.
Hope you can get time to sail away this week and create a project for our challenge. Have a wonderful week.

Supplies:
- Miss Kate Cuttables - sailboat
- Pink By Design - Summer vacation stamps
- Recollections Nautical paper

Birthday Cakes with Bitten By the Bug 2

All we want this week at Bitten by the Bug 2 is cake - Birthday Cake that is. Our host, Melanie, would like to see your projects featuring a birthday cake.
I found this cute lil' lady while searching for birthday cakes on Cricut Design Space and knew she would be a fun card. The Once Upon a Princess cartridge has some base dolls and several little outfits that can be cut out for them like this dress, apron and cake on a platter.
Once she was all ready  to celebrate I added a little sparkle here and there as well as a simple sentiment stamp.
Thanks for visiting my blog today.  I love hearing your thoughts. I hope you get a chance to join us at BBTB2 this week. This is a Cricut based challenge so your project needs to feature a Cricut cut please.

Supplies:
- Once Upon a Princess Cricut Cartridge - base doll, outfit with cake
- My Pink Stamper - Buggy Punnies stamp set

Using my Card Stash

I love to create cards of all kinds to have on hand....But today I looked in my card drawer and it is overflowing which means it is time to write some letters, send joy, share hope and send good wishes to those I love.
Those of us who love making cards also like sharing them and receiving them.

So today - Make a new card or pull one out and send it to someone for a pick me up, simple hello or any old reason at all.  I got these 7 done this morning. Ready to go in the mail tomorrow.
Have a great Sunday.

Akerhshus Royal Banquet Hall

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Epcot at Walt Disney World is a wonderful princess dining experience that we enjoyed on Christmas Eve during our holiday trip.
I have been working hard to complete our Disney Holiday album before I head back to work in a few weeks. Last week I went through and placed cards in all the pockets so that all that was need was final touches. It helped a lot and I will be sharing many pages with you.
This spread included a solid 12x12 spread and a pocket page. I started with a bunch of pink for this spread. I selected a combo of cards and papers from different Project Life collections and got to work.
I cut a fun title for the 12 x 12 page using a fun font on my Silhouette and added these cute crowns in a few different places.
I added journaling and a fun overlay card in the pocket page facing the 12x12 spread. I like how cutting of the crown looked here on on the side of the page.
The over the top pink was fun and I love the over all look with all the fun photos of Princess meet & greets. Thanks so much for visiting today.

- Disney Happily Ever  After Cricut Cartridge - crowns
- Xiomara font - title cut on Silhouette
- Project Life Blush Edition 12x12 papers

Reading Notebook with a Great Sketch

Happy Tuesday everyone. August has arrived and with it a new sketch challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. Hope you can join in the fun. Here is what I created with our new sketch.
I try to keep track of the books and minutes I read, as I ask my students to do during the year so I needed a new notebook for the upcoming (dare I say it) school year.
This sketch from Carson's Creations worked out just right for my new notebook.
The dollar bin notebook was easy to cover with some lightweight paper.
Once, I had selected all my papers to match and coordinate I got started on the base of the sketch and went off to select a design for the main image.
Once  I had my book shelf cut out I wanted to add something to the front - my letter stamps fit just right onto the spine of the largest book and everything was complete.

Thanks for visiting with me today. Have a great week - hopefully with some time to work on this fun sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas.

Supplies:
- Wrap it Up Cricut Cartridge - books
- Close to My Heart - A Typeface letter stamps
- Recollections All Occasions paper pad

It's a Good Day!!

It's a good day to have a good day and for me it is extra good because today is my first day as part of the Design Team at Bitten By The Bug 2.  This is a Cricut challenge site and since Cricut was my first love in cutting machines it is such a joy to be part of this great team.
This week the challenge host is Susan and she has asked us to create projects that inspire you to cool down by the sea (use images with palm tree, sand, beaches etc). For me a cool umbrella to lay around under is just right on the beach.
I started by creating this fun beach scene from the Formal Occasion cartridge. This cart has  some great backdrops meant to be for a dance theme.
I wanted my sandy beach to have a little more definition so I added some ink to it using a simple coloring tool and some ink.
My sunbather was from a different cartridge - Pack Your Bags. I used Design Space to make sure the scale of my images was correct before cutting everything. I was super happy with the end results.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  I am super happy to be part of this fun challenge blog team. Hope you get a chance to join in our fun. The rules of the challenge are posted on the BBTB2 page, but the main rule - have fun with your Cricut.

Linking up with Craftin Desert Diva's Stay Cool Linky Party as well.

Supplies:
- Pack Your Bags Cricut Cartridge - sunbather
- Formal Occasion Cricut Cartridge - island scene
- Pink By Design - Stamp of the Month Feb 2013
- Sizzix embossing folder
- Memento Ink Desert Sand
- Fantastix coloring tool - bullet point by Tsukineko

Starbucks Disney Style

I have been working hard on my Disney album after finally selecting cards for most of the pages. Here is a quick page I put together this week with a few simple add on touches to the base Project Life cards.
I started with these great cards from the Coral edition and added some simple touches with a castle cut and this fun Starbucks art image I found and used the print and cut feature in design space to add on.
Just a simple spread to help me reach my goal of finishing the album soon.

Supplies
- Project Life Coral Edition cards (including one to cut castle out)
- Starbucks image created by Ellador
- Wrap it Up Cricut Cartridge - castle cut
